Virginia Rams Cumberland

The Virginia backs away from the sinking Cumberland just after ramming her. The Union sloop of war put up a heroic, if futile, battle against the cannon-proof ironclad. Some of her brave sailors fire a last broadside at the Virginia as other men dive off the steeply listing vessel. (Old Print Shop)
